so the kids ate at costco tonight and i was coming into dinner with 12.5 points for the day...that NEVER has happened!
so, i opted out of the costco dinner and when i got home i had a little of this, a little of that...i snacked my way up...wasn't best allocation of points, but it worked...i bought some v8 thinking that was a good thing, only to find out it's packed with sodium so it's really not a good thing...so much for that...
i think i left 2.5 points in the bank but i didn't want them....this is something new....
having a hard time remembering my dairy for some reason...after i told you guys not to forget about it!
didn't get the scale. looked at costco tonight and mark thought it was absolutely ridiculous. so i decided to heed to my husband's wishes...respect respect respect....and move on....and from your experience terrie it sounds like it wouldn't have been worth it! who needs an extra 10? holy crow! i'll have to work on the scale issue...
night all!

A New Scale
So I bought a new scale today. The digital kind. Actually I bought 2. The one at Meijers was $10 more than the one on sale at Target. I had Bob put it in the bathroom. He came down and told me we might want to keep the old one as this one is running 10 lbs. heavier on him. GREAT! That is not what I wanted to hear.
I am still vowing not to get on the scale until Monday a.m. The weight will be what it is.
OK day here. Over by 1 point. Had a great dinner. Taco salad. Instead of a flour wrap I had my meat on a salad and had 1/2 avacado. It was quite tasty. No exercise yet. Ummm it's 6:18 am I going to get motivated yet? I do need my food to settle first.
Tomorrow we are going to the Orsini's. The guys are taking the 4 older kids snow sledding. I'll stay back with Megan while her 2 youngest nap. Then we are going to have dinner. She said we'll order pizza. So I only am going to have one slice. She is making a salad and I'm bring veggies. With Megan I should keep my will power, she is always so good. The temptation will be there.
Thanks again for being my partners!!

shoulda prepped for more...
Ok, so I didn't have pizza...and I didn't have a cupcake...but who knew there would be brownies there! Ok, so logical and rational says, "so what! you didn't want any points", but emotional and childish says, "I never said no brownie!". My neighbor suggested splitting it, so we did. Best guess based on the book is 4points... Ah well. I'm my own worst enemy at times. Got the hot water going for the tea now, 'cause I can't waste any more points.
Mama K...was I supposed to ask my trainer something? I don't remember...

A call for accountablity
Ok, so I need some accountability...Joel has a birthday party and parents have been requested to stay (otherwise I'd flee from temptation). So, this is my next best solution. There will be pizza and cupcakes and my plan is not to have either. I would, because I have quite a few flex points left, but I already have plans to use them tonight and there aren't that many to manage both splurges.
So, please ask me later how I did.
I did some Wii fitness today, but not high intensity. I thought that was ok 'cause I don't usually exercise on weekends, so it's something. It was Yoga which is good for the body regardless of activity points!
Good day to all!

egg white/1 egg omlette...lots of red pepper and a littl shredded cheddar...just a taste. veggie sausage patties. good break.
last night i had trouble...pizza for the boys movie night with friends...jet's pizza..what is THAT? 5 points for ONE slice. crap. that stinks. had a slice...a breadstick and chowed on cukes and carrots....it was hard...did have some wine...it's friday...then popped popcorn with i can't belive it's not butter light...not sure how to calculate that one...did give myself a small bowl full, but would have rather eaten the entire huge bowl!!! aaarrggghhh...temptation, but did ok all things considered....
got my stationary bike in this a.m. not the best workout...1 pt. but at least i was moving.
i think i've gotta get that exercise thing up!
i did weigh in and much to my disappointment, not a lot of movement...ok....none. a couple more days so we shall see!
i will get a scale with .10 increments because any shift down is success!
here's to a cold but good day today!!!

Saturday
My first Saturday on the plan and so far no exercise. I don't like to exercise on weekends. Well who am I kidding I don't really like exercise at all. I will do something this afternoon. I have to hit Meijers AGAIN. Need more veggies and a few other staples. Not a big list but need zero points veggies in the house to fill me up.
I haven't weighed myself since Wed. Holding off until my Monday a.m. weigh in. I hope it's 2 lbs. That would be so encouraging.
Have a good day everyone. I'm making my lunch at home before I go do my errands.

Some stumbles...
Hey- where is everyone today?
I had a good work out this morning- time with my trainer and then an extra 20 min on the elliptical. Later in the afternoon, more shoveling. It all added up to 8 activity points today.
Joel and I went to Kroger and there were samples everywhere! Ok, only 4 spots, and I did sample. I counted the points best I could. I do believe though that opening that door made my day a bit tougher. I did ok though...used some of my extra points. I'm trying to save as many as possible for meeting friends tomorrow.
I made a new dish for dinner. I found the recipe along with a coupon for Ziploc Zip and Steam bags. I looked at the recipe and saw that I had all the ingredients and so didn't buy any additional at Kroger. Well, when I went to make it, I realized it called for orange marmalade, not orange juice. Hellooooo! Anyway, I added teriyaki and soy sauce instead and it was actually good. A little brown rice and there you are. I did sign up for the etools and actually found errors in their calculations, so if you have the nutrionals at home, double check. They had graham crackers wrong and egg substitute. Had some delicious microwave s'mores for dessert too! Joel loved that.
Ok, so my goal tomorrow is to exercise, even though I don't typically do so on Saturday's. Either a video or the Wii.
Hope you all have had a good day and will have a good weekend!

Day Five
day ended with those italian meatballs they recommend...hmmm...not so sure about that one guys...would modify a bit...a little extra wine never hurts...thickened sauce with cornstarch which helped...
nice salad with gorgonzola, a few dried cranberries, sliced pear and balsamic....a little glass of red wine (i had some extra points from the day believe it or not :))
i had the hostess cupcakes for dessert (1 pt) and i don't care that you can't pronounce the ingredients...they were yummy....
tmo will do oatmeal again. started reading that "you on a diet" book. a friend let me borrow it. it's soooo interesting. fascinating how the body works to process food, etc. one principle was to start the day with fiber...gives your body something to work on for the morning...
if you're interested i'll share little pieces of what i learn.
my "last chance" video arrives in a few days. i told mark and he said, "two words honey...tae bo." ...but THIS is different!
night ladies. looking forward to tmo. so far so good!
you hungry (soon to be hotter) mamas

Day's end
Not a bad day...food wise. Dinner was good- spaghetti squash, sauce, 1/4 cup mozz. cheese and garlic bread...6pts. Even points left for a little low fat ice cream. 1/2 cup is quite a bit of ice cream!
Will have my usual for breakfast and more spaghetti squash for lunch. There's plenty left, so maybe dinner too!
Tomorrow I meet with my trainer, so some serious strength training and then more cardio.
Thanks for being hungry with me!

Hershey kisses really add up
I have a few Hershey kisses left over from the cookies I made over Christmas. I indulges in 5. That was 3 points!! Who knew! How many of those did I have while making the cookies!?!? Don't forget the cookies too.
Good day here. What started out with lack of motivation ended well. I had a good breakfast with 1 cup oatmeal, 1 tsp. sugar and blueberries and a banana. That was only 4.5 points and lasted all to lunch. My true struggle is the lunch to dinner time frame. I get snacky around 3 - 5 (yes the full 2 hours). Just snacky not real hunger. Lunch was the same as yesterday - black refried beans on whole what tortilla, 1 oz. cheese, 1 tsp. low fat sour cream, yellow peppers. Also a salad. Truly is filling and very satisfying. I have one more 1/2 c. of black refried beans so tomorrow it will most likely be the same.
Well the afternoon came and I decided to tackle the basement. I have dubbed January as basement cleaning month. I do think I'm the only one doing it (not a family wide endeavor as I had hoped). I spent a good 1/2 hour cleaning, organizing, rearranging, sorting and stacking. I only 1/3 done. I did create a nice work out area for me. The elliptical had to be moved and the small rug too. I couldn't do jumping jacks where the rug was, as I would hit my hands on the duct work. But I'm all set now. So after that endeavor and my snack of peanuts. I thought those were good for me - 3 points for 1/4 cup (30 pieces) Yikes! Anyway, I did go back down and got on the elliptical since I had been so close to it but not on it all afternoon. Did my 30 minute work out. Felt good. My legs are tired now.
Dinner was 1 chicken thigh, baked with a little panko bread crumb and egg wash to make it stick. This is a weekly favorite in my house, so glad I modified it, with less breading and flour. Salad of course. Let's not forget my cup of broccoli. Then the 5 kisses!! : ) I did hit my full points today.
I am finding my body is tired from working out 5 days in a row. Not something I've been good at, the consistency. Thanks for the motivation Kristi. I also am finding I need to go back to the grocery store for more veggies. I only have one more serving of broccoli and red/yellow peppers. Also my baby tomatoes are almost gone. Who knew I would eat this many veggies in one week.
I think I'm on for snow shoveling tomorrow. About 5 inches so far and Bob has not gone out to tackle it. It's now dark, so that will be my exercise tomorrow.
Hope you all had a good day. I don't think I'd be very successful without you. 3 more days until my Monday a.m. weigh in (yikes).

Not many Cheese-itz!
Hey Mama's!
Had my usual breakfast and then did my 30min walk/jog interval. Wish I had a treadmill at home though (sounds like you do, Kristi?). This month's Consumer Reports reviews them...I found I was able to run at the higher intensity for longer today, so fitness is obviously improving.
Lunch...I discovered you get quite a bit of lunchmeat for 1pt! I'm not a big lunchmeat fan, but thought it'd be a nice change of pace. Put on a slice of low fat American cheese, piled on a cup of lettuce, a little honey mustard and Wa La! Something different for me.
Joel and I took Casey to the vet and they had snacks there for a hungry Joel. I love Cheese-itz! So I had just a few. I hope to someday be the kind of person who is satisfied with that!
For dinner, I'm thinking of cooking up the spaghetti squash I've had here and having that with sauce. Tons o'veggies there!
I'm overall pleased with how I've dealt with my points thus far. It's a challenge but do-able. And, my jeans are now not as threatening, if you know what I mean!

Really Cool feature
I just found the really cool feature to put in your recipe and then it calculates the totals. So I have some fairly dead bananas that need to be made into banana bread. I put in my banana bread recipe and then split up the servings as we cut it up. Each serving has 3 points. How cool is that to know. I can save the recipe and then add it to my meal tracker as I eat it. Now I can't have a lot of banana bread but I can have some :)
Day Four
Another day...didn't want to get on that treadmill this morning...but i did...20 min walk/jog interval...light weights and lunges...
Oatmeal, frozen raspberries for break...1t. brown sugar 1t. honey...2.5 pts. total...not feeling exactly full...is all this mental? seriously...i never really thought about hunger levels before all this...will be drinkin my water!
Leftover fajitas for lunch...
Something with lean ground beef for dinner...we'll see...
Get moving Terrie...you can do this! Only 3 more days until the weigh in!!!!
Don't forget your dairy and make sure you eat all your points!

It's a new day, with a new set of points and currently not a lot of motivation to work out!!

fine day
The day was ok. I was hungry for a bit but I overall did well. I went over on my points but I did it knowing I was doing it. I haven't used many yet, so I think it's ok. We had leftovers...Boboli pizza, salad and my healthy oil as dressing. Tomorrow morning I'll have the usual...eggbeaters with salsa, veggie sausage and milk. Will try again tomorrow to do my walk/jog interval cardio.
Hey Terrie...is that a Jillian video or on the Wii?

Hey Terrie...is that a Jillian video or on the Wii?
Night all...
Dinner...full....ahhhh....
i'm happy to write that i am full...not stuffed...just comfortable...
dinner tonight was fajitas. a good value i must say...3 ounces of chicken (3) tortilla (1) with lots of cooked red peppers(0) and onions (1), salsa (0), low fat sour cream (1) and a sprinking of sharp cheddar (1)...even had a light beer (2)....and guess what? i'm FULL! no hungry mama here!
the rest of the day was pretty good. hit meijer and had a lot of fun stocking up on good high fiber food with lots of fresh veggies and fruit.
looking forward to a good eating day tmo. didn't exercise today. moms in touch this morning and then off to grocery store...a friend called to grab a bite at arby's - thought i might give in to temptation, but no - opted for the chicken chopped salad with fork-dipped dressing...i think it was about 7 pts....
the way to start the day is with an egg...keeps me full a little longer.
tmo though i'm going to give oatmeal with frozen berries i think...we'll see how that does....
have a great day tmo guys! this is fun eh?

The kitchen is closed 1/6/10
Well I made it through the day without a lot of difficulty. I think I had a heartier breakfast than yesterday so that helped me with lunch and making it through to the end.
I made the Meatball recipe that WW showed on their recipe finder and it was quite good. Everyone in the family ate them! I had more than the suggested 6 so had to add another point. I am currently craving sugar of some sort so thought I'd just close the kitchen. But there is no lock on the door, as there is no door, so I will keep busy and strive to end my day well! I am exactly at my point allotment today! Did add 2 for activity. I did my Jillian Michael 30 minute shred at the intermediate level so I called that High Intensity -- as it is!
Hope you all had a good day. Post on your challenges and successes.
I will say a prayer for all of us tonight to not dream about food and not have gurgling tummies!
